20th Century should be an easy, rewarding and fun experience. We want you to be happy
with your purchases and come back for more great vintage finds.
In creating a venue that, hopefully, will cause such emotions, we asked vintage lovers and customers what they wish to see more and less of on an online vintage store site.
Of course, we cannot throw in everything and the antique kitchen sink. Even so, we worked
very hard on this site. Within our powers and resources, we will continue to improve it.
HOW ITEMS ARE LISTED FOR YOU
TO BROWSE AND PURCHASE
SECTIONS
Our store has category Sections and Subsections. Access them through the left bar menu of each page. Items for sale are displayed in all Subsections. Clicking on a vintage item's photograph will lead you to its Information & Purchase Page (I&P Page). Additional sections will be added over time.
STORE DIRECTORY - currently offline
Access the STORE DIRECTORY through the menu and DIRECTORY / SEARCH buttons.
The Directory is a line-item list of all items for sale on 20th Century Finds' vintage store Site. Each line-item is a link to that vintage item's Preview Profile, which includes a picture and a short description of the item, along with a link to its I&P Page. The full Directory list can be viewed alphabetically or viewed by one of five categories, all of which have pre-sorted subcategories. You can also perform a word search.
ORDER & PURCHASE VINTAGE ITEMS THROUGH THE I&Ps
To make a purchase, visit the item's I&P. You can pay by credit or bank card by choosing the "Add to Cart" button. Use the Order & Contact Form link to pay by money order.
For more information about payment options, please visit HOW TO PLACE AN ORDER.
WE DO NOT REQUIRE YOU TO BECOME A MEMBER
There is no requirement to join 20th Century Finds as a member before making a purchase on our store Site. Our membership is strictly to allow members to enjoy and gain exclusive access to private member pages and enjoy discounts, specials, gift bonuses, and sales not offered to the general public. Sources To Identify
And Describe The Items We Sell Is
Important To Us.
20the Century Finds is a reliable and honest seller of vintage items. We are verified with PayPal. We strictly enforce our Privacy Policy. We have decades of experience in retail sales and customer service. Our customers are happy customers. The owner of 20th Century Finds routinely undergoes security background checks for her work
as a business and legal consultant in California.
ON A REGULAR BASIS
We do not group vintage earrings currently
for sale with every pair we sold in the past.
Who wants to wade through pages and
pages of sold items?
Our customers don't want that. Time is precious.
And no one wants to be teased as to what they cannot buy.*
We agree. Once a sale is completed in full, the item is removed from the store's shopping pages. Pending sales will be displayed over the item's photographs on the Subsection pages. Access to the item's I&P will be removed.
We do not need to brag about what sold. Instead, we show you what customers think about us and of the items they purchased. It is important for you to see we sell fabulous items and provide great customer service.
*There are pictures of items we have sold in the REFERENCE Section, but those only show the labels & signatures of handbag brands & jewelry designers in close up shots.
ASSURANCE FOR THE MIND
We are selective in what we choose to sell. We sell "new" vintage items that are inventory stock from closed stores ("dead stock"). We sell used vintage items that only have minor signs of use, wear, and/or aging, if any. If an item has more signs of wear than what we will usually sell, on its I&P Page we will state that and explain why we decided to sell the item in our store.
We have chosen not to do a grading scale (e.g. Excellent means .. . , Very Good means . . , etc.). Instead, we provide you with individual and detailed information about the condition of each item, as each item is truely unique from any other item we are selling in our store. The only grading scale we may use is for clothing.
On its Information & Purchase Page (I&P Page) we provide our opinion of the item's condition. Customers have told us that we underestimate the condition of the items we sell. Good or nice vintage condition, turns into fabulous, fantastic condition.
But since opinion is subjective, . . .
on each I&P Page, you will see at least five photographs of the item for sale. You can view each of these pictures in enlarged format. Just click on each photograph. You will see what you are buying before you purchase it. We photograph small details. Based on past customers' rave reviews of this practice, your purchase will look even better in person. To see how pleased our customers are with their 20th Century finds, see the Rave Reviews section for comments from our customers from around the world.
Not many online vintage stores include more than one or two pictures of an item. Not all provide photographs that are clean, clear, crisp, and close up, plus enlarge for better viewing. We acknowledge that more resources, costs and time are expended to provide this information. Yet it is very important for you to truly see what you are buying.
We do not 'Photoshop' our photographs. Sometimes the lightness, but not the colors, is slightly adjusted. We do not 'airbrush' or change the color, shape or surface of the item photographed. We use Apple monitors calibrated for those who use PC monitors as well. In the photo studio, natural-light-professional-lighting sets are used, along with sunshine. We capture pictures with some shadowing to achieve a sense of what the item will look like when worn/used/in your home. Even with all of this, however, we cannot guarantee that your monitor will show the true colors and surface texture. Click, HERE, to go to a color block page to see how your monitor shows common colors on this Site.
I have been collecting antique and vintage handbags, jewelry and clothing for myself for about 15 years. A few years ago I started helping others locate great vintage finds. I have access to wonderful vintage items through family, friends and business associations. This developed into the online vintage store 20th Century Finds.
I gained a background in high-end retail of luxury goods in the 1980s and early 1990s when I worked as an assistant sales manager and event coordinator in San Francisco, California for perfume and cosmetic lines. With gracious luck, I've worked for well-known fashion icons and designers of the 20th Century including Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera, Cathering Deneuve, and Emmanuel Ungaro, along with such fabulous companies as Clarins, Tiffany and Cartier.
My work included promotions at I.Magnin & Co., Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom stores where the selection of luxury goods and customer service was outstanding. I have taught my 20th Century Finds team of assistants how important it is to offer quality vintage items and excellent customer service.
I earned a J.D. (law degree) in 1995. For over a decade, I've enjoyed providing litigation and consulting services to clients doing business in California. As I work with entrepreneurs and business owners, creating 20th Century Finds was inevitable.
